1. Participation in the tournament
A. It is possible to participate in StarCraft II Amateur Series in one of the following regions:
Russian-speaking (RU) region. Any Russian-speaking (i.e. having enough language competence to communicate with the referees and other tournament players) StarCraft II player who doesn’t have any current bans by Blizzard Entertainment is eligible to apply;
European (EU) region. Any StarCraft II player who meets the requirements for WCS Challenger Europe is eligible to apply;
North American (NA) region. Any StarCraft II player who meets the requirements for WCS Challenger North America is eligible to apply;
B. In order to participate in the tournament, all players have to create an account on sc2.starladder.com website, connect their Battle.net account to it and confirm their participation before the competition starts.
C. By joining the tournament, players agree with the rules and undertake to comply with them during the competition.
D. All participants of the tournament can take part in StarCraft II in-game gifts raffle once. The raffles are held among the players who leave the tournament after every round of the competition.
E. All players can participate in the tournament only once by selecting their race and signing up according to their current ladder league. In case it is necessary to change the race after the start of the tournament, a player needs to contact referees in advance.
F. EU server is the main server for RU and EU region matches, NA server is the main server for NA region matches. In particular cases, the referees have a right to change the game server for certain matches.
2. Competition format (Here and below, tournament rules are the same for all regions in which the competition is held):
A. The tournament is divided into six stages: bronze + silver, gold, platinum, diamond, master and grandmaster leagues. The winner of each round advances to the next round. Four winners of the final stage qualify to StarLadder StarCraft II Ultimate Series 2018 Season 2.
B. All stages of the tournament are held in the format of a group round with up to 4 players in the group. Group format is GSL Double Elimination: all matches are best of 3 and a player leaves the competition after losing in two matches.
C. Players can veto two maps of the current map pool using the tournament system on the website before the round starts.
D. The map order is randomly determined by the tournament system on the website from the list of the remaining maps.
E. An in-game race used by a player in the tournament must match the race picked by a player during the registration. Random race is considered a separate race and doesn’t give a player the right to choose an in-game race before every match.
F. Players are declared the winners after their opponent has left the game without any technical issues influence or lost all the buildings in the game.
G. The game can end in a draw with or without an automatic stalemate detection in the following cases only:
Both the players and the referee agreed to a draw, OR
The game went into a stalemate and it is confirmed by the referee, OR
There is no possibility to kill opponent’s buildings for each player.
H. Only the referee can make the final decision on the outcome of the game that ended due to automatic stalemate detection.
I. If the referee doesn’t decide to finish the current game or give a victory to one of the players, a game that ended in a draw should be replayed on the same map.
3. Game client settings:
A. Game version: the up-to-date version of StarCraft II.
B. Format, settings and game speed: “Melee”, 1x1; “No build order” optionally. Option “No match history” is forbidden.
C. Players must disable any notifications and set in-game status to «busy» while playing in a tournament.
D. Players must turn off “Only allow friends to send me messages” option;
E. Players must turn off “Only allow friends to send me invites” option;
F. Players must join the in-game tournament chat channel specified by the referee. The tournament chat channel is determined by players’ league and the number of their group as following: [region_name]_[league name]_[group number]. The name of the chat channel should be entered without square brackets as following: eu_silver_99 or na_gold_233
G. Players must keep replays of all their games while participating in the tournament.
4. Gaming ethics
A. The usage of obscene language, provocation, insults and showing disrespect towards any other player, a referee, or viewers is forbidden.
B. The presence of unauthorized observers in the game is prohibited. Only players, referees and observers approved by organizers can join the game.
C. Each player can ask for a pause during the game. The maximum waiting time for an opponent cannot exceed fifteen minutes in each match.
D. The use of any third-party software that violates Blizzard End User License Agreement, including keyboard or mouse macros, is forbidden.
E. Players can only use their own accounts to play in the tournament. Using other people’s accounts is prohibited as well as hiding the real skill level and using fake accounts in order to access the earlier stages of the tournament.
F. Players may not bet on any games of the tournament.
G. Players may not engage in any kind of match fixing actions, and must immediately report any match fixing offers they receive to tournament organizers.
H. Players’ nicknames on the tournament website, in Battle.net and in the game client should not violate BattleTag Naming Policy.
5. Settlement of disputable situations
A. If players are absent from the game channel 15 minutes after the scheduled match start, they may get a technical loss.
B. If all the players are disconnected from the server, the organizers can rearrange the match.
C. If one player is disconnected from the game for no apparent reason, the other player may be declared the winner.
D. If one player was disconnected from the game due to technical issues but managed to solve them in the waiting time (see paragraph 4c), the game should be restored via replay recovery function from the moment of disconnection.
E. Players are prohibited from opening and/or watching any replays without permission from the referee if the game ended after a disconnection .
F. If players violate any of the tournament rules, they can get a warning, a technical loss on a certain map or in the whole match, or be disqualified.
6. Changing the rules
A. StarLadder reserves the right to change these rules at any time of the tournament with a notification on the tournament website.
B. StarLadder reserves the right to suspend the participation of any player in the tournament in exceptional cases.
C. In extraordinary situations tournament organizers and referees may make decisions that are in conflict with the rules.
D. Organizers and referees can make decisions on their own in cases which are not covered by the rules.
